Tips for Preventing Falls
- Wear proper shoes that fit and whenever possible wear nonslip shoes or weather-appropriate footwear (e.g., boots in winter).
- Try to get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each day so you can be alert to your surroundings.
- Be patient with yourself and take your time to complete tasks; do not rush.
- Look into mobility assistance devices whenever necessary.
- If you wear glasses or hearing aids, don’t leave the room without them.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
